WAM essentially is a scouting company. Through our extensive contacts in countries such as Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belorus, we monitor works in progress of literally hundreds of promising artists, students and alumni of major East European art schools and academies. We are usually present during semi-annual exhibitions in the St Petersburg and Moscow academies of art; have our representatives walk most major art shows in Tbilisi, Kiev, Minsk and many other art centers of Eastern Europe.
We do that in order to spot artists who possess a rare combination of talent and broad appeal, a quality even less common then the ability to make beautiful paintings. After selecting an artist, we orient her/him, prepare for the challenges of the US market, and start looking for venues to sell the artwork. We introduced Avtandil, Lela, M&I Garmash, Andrei Atroshenko, Eugine Segal and Svetlana Valueva to Collectors Editions, Sergey Smirnov to Fingerhut Group Publishing, Vladimir Volegov and Vakhtang to Soho Editions, Merab Gagiladze, Irakli Sutidze, Vera Pauloff to Galerie Elektra of Sausalito, Vitold Smukrovich, Tang Wei Min, and Angelica to Galerie Du Soleil, Misti Pavlov to Horizon Galery of Jackson Hole & Classic Gallery of Carmel.
We welcome your inquiries regarding artists and art on our site, as well as requests for specific type of art and/or artists. We are ready to discuss your current and future needs and activate our contacts in order to find artists suitable for your unique needs. We do not charge fees for our services. Our compensation is within the artists compensation. We work as representatives and charge our artists a percentage of what they receive from sales of their artwork and royalties from copyright.
Principals of WAM are Leon & Julia Weinstein, husband and wife. Both were born in St Petersburg, Russia, but since their exodus from Russia lived in Tel Aviv, Paris, New York, Moscow, Tbilisi and many other less known places. Now we call Woodland Hills, CA our home. We have two daughters (35 & 28), two grandchild and two dogs, both are Standard Poodles. We have many friends around the globe who think that Woodland Hills is a great vacation spot, and who consider our home an inexpensive & convenient bed&breakfast motel. We welcome them. Many of our local friends think that our backyard is great for parties, and often surprise us with an entourage of almost sober guests. We do not object. Both our daughters play piano and sing (way too loud for our taste), one also dances, another models on the side. We babyseat our grandchildren no more then seven days a week. We pretend that we are happy with the arrangement.
We think that life treats us fair. We like what we are doing, love our home, our friends, endure our children. We thank God for all we have. We are very happy to be where we are and who we are. Leon is a theater director by trade. Julia ("Gul-na-ra" in Russian) is an economist, used to be budget specialist for major film productions. We started as art lovers and collectors, then decided to dive into art business full speed.
Lately our younger daughter Kristina began to work with us, thinking she is doing us a favor. We are happy since now we have someone who can explain to us what we did wrong in the past and what shall be done in the future to repair it.
Now you know who we are. Let us know who you are, and what we can do for you. We hope you enjoy what you are doing, and will continue your good service to the community in those (always) challenging times.
